Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 15 - Prime Minister Hun Sen has encouraged the European Union and the United States to freeze the bank accounts of the leaders of the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as officials in the United States and the European Union.

The announcement came after the U.S and EU warned to freeze Cambodian government leaders’ bank accounts abroad as the punishment to the dissolution of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and the arrest of the CNRP leader.

Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed no concern with the warning, as he has no wealth abroad.

He added that he was not worried about sanctions from the United States or the European Union, as Cambodia had suffered so much in the 1980s and 90s but still survived beside the exclusion of external economies.

The premier said that the warning was just a decision made by the European Parliament but might not be possible, as the purchasing power lied on the hands of the businessmen and that they had already signed and agreed.

The premier also reminded the United States to not interfere with small nations, as the small nation can stand up for its independence.
