(Phnom Penh): The Techo International Airport, a landmark achievement for Cambodia, officially commenced flight operations this morning. Built at a cost of approximately USD 1.5 billion, the airport spans Kandal and Takeo Provinces and now serves as a new international gateway linking Cambodia to the world.
The inaugural flight, Air Cambodia K6 611, arrived from China carrying international tourists. The aircraft was greeted with a ceremonial water cannon salute, witnessed by Minister of Civil Aviation Mao Havannall and Minister of Tourism Huot Hak.
Passengers received a warm Cambodian welcome featuring a traditional Chhayyam performance, floral garlands, and commemorative souvenirs, underscoring the significance of the occasion for the nation’s aviation and tourism sectors.
