(Bangkok): On Sunday (Sep. 7), after receiving the royal command appointing him as prime minister, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, according to Khaosod English.

He stated, "For the current security issues, my government will begin to implement measures to resolve the Thai-Cambodian dispute through peaceful means, to reduce the loss and suffering of the people in both countries.”

"However, Thailand must uphold the principle that we will never cede our territory, not even a single square centimeter. Thai people must not be disadvantaged and must be able to live their lives in peace," Anutin added.

Meanwhile, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, the presumptive Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, said after meeting with Prime Minister Anutin at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters that the Prime Minister had consulted with him about resolving the issue peacefully while fully preserving Thailand's sovereignty. Shortly after, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sent a letter of congratulations to Anutin on his new position. In the letter, he stated, "I look forward to working closely with you to restore relations between Cambodia and Thailand to normalcy, rebuild mutual trust, and transform our shared border betwern the two Kungdoms into one of peace, cooperation, development, and shared prosperity.”
