Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 12 - His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, will lead a delegation to attend and co-chair the 3rd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting from December 14 to 16 in Yunnan Province, China, at the invitation of His Excellency Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.
The Meeting will provide a good opportunity to promote and strengthen the mechanism and cooperation in the framework of the Mekong-Lancang and to discuss the preparation for the 2nd LMC Leaders’ Meeting in Cambodia in January 2018.
The meeting is expected to adopt the following documents - The Joint Press Communique of the 3rd LMC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting; List of the Projects supported by LMC Special Fund on 2017; and Hotline platform of LMC National Secretariats and Coordination Units.
In this meeting, Minister Prak Sokhonn will attend the photo exhibition of the LMC achievements and the launch of the official website of the LMC China Secretariat and, together with Minister Wang Yi, will hold a Joint Press Conference by the Co-Chairs.
The LMC framework was established at the 1st LMC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in November 2015 in Yunnan Province, China, based on the principles of consensus, openness, inclusiveness, equality, mutual consultation, and coordination, voluntarism, common contribution and shared benefits, and respect for the UN Charter and international law.
