(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, reiterated that once again, Cambodia urged Thailand to strictly implement the ceasefire agreement that has officially entered into force.
Concurrently, Cambodia calls on Thailand to implement the 13-point agreement by releasing the 18 Cambodian soldiers detained by Thai forces eight hours after the ceasefire took effect, which as of now has been 15 days.
The spokesperson spoke on Thursday (Aug. 14) during a press conference.
“Once again, Cambodia urges Thailand to respect the spirit of the ceasefire, work towards a peaceful solution, and adhere to the principles of international law, which is the correct, impartial, and just solution that will bring peace and prosperity to both nations,” the spokesperson underscored.
It should be noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross, which visited the 18 Cambodian soldiers unlawfully detained by Thailand after the ceasefire took effect, confirmed that all are in safe condition.
