(Phnom Penh): Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, categorically rejected the statement issued by Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accusing Cambodia of laying new landmines along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
The spokesperson spoke on Sunday (Aug. 10) during a press conference.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation categorically denies the statement made by Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accusing Cambodia of laying new landmines," Chum Sounry underscored.
He further asserted that Cambodian authorities, who oversee mine clearance activities and assist landmine victims, have provided a clear explanation and dismissed Thailand’s baseless allegations.
According to the spokesperson, as of now, there has been no credible or transparent investigation related to the incident mentioned by the Thai side. Cambodia urges patience and avoidance of hasty public accusations that could undermine mutual trust and the spirit of the ceasefire.
