Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 7 - Within the first nine months of 2017, the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) has confiscated more than 156 kilograms of drugs, marijuana is excluded.

The authorities have also destroyed more than 200,000 marijuana trees, according to Meas Virith, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of NACD.

His statement was made during 2017 Summit on the results of drug control, which was attended by Kao Khon Dara, deputy chairman of NACD, on Thursday at the Ministry of Interior.

"The authorities have so far not found any location for drug production, whether in a small or a large scale, after the event before 2012. We can conclude and evaluate that after Minister of Justice paying careful attention to this case, there has now been no detection or relevant information of drug-making activities in Cambodia," said Meas Virith.

He added that the number of drug crackdowns has increased, both drug traffickers and consumers, especially the increased in drug confiscation. During the anti-drug campaign, authorities have cracked down many drug cases, resulting in 20 percent reduction of drug crimes.
