(Phnom Penh): US President Donald Trump has reduced tariffs on Cambodian exports to 19 percent, down from 36 percent, while Cambodia imposes zero tariffs on all US goods, according to Sun Chanthol, First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
Speaking at a press conference on Friday (Aug. 1), the vice chairman credited the successful tariff negotiations to the efforts of Prime Minister Hun Manet’s government. He said the White House officially announced the tariff cut earlier that morning.
He added that the revised rate is a positive step forward, expected to attract more foreign investment and boost Cambodia’s trade growth.
