(Phnom Penh): On Tuesday (Jul. 29), German Embassy Cambodia welcomed the immediate and unconditional ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, which took effect at 24:00 local time on 28 July 2025.
The German Embassy wrote on its social media on Tuesday (Jul. 29) as follows:
“The Federal Foreign Office has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand as an important step toward peace.
We remain hopeful that both sides will fully restore calm and return to normalcy.”
It should be noted that the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire agreement was reached following the special meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai on 28 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting was organised by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with the participation of representatives from the United States and China.
