(Phnom Penh): Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, announced that the situation has remained calm since the ceasefire took effect at midnight.

At a press conference on Tuesday (Jul. 29), she confirmed that, under the ceasefire agreement, both sides have halted all hostilities, refrained from troop movements, and maintained their positions while establishing joint coordination teams.

Socheata stated: “As a positive outcome, there have been no further exchanges of fire across the military zones. This reflects the strong commitment of both countries’ leadership.”

The Cambodia–Thailand clashes began on the morning of July 24, 2025, near the Ta Moan Thom temple in Oddar Meanchey province, after Thai forces reportedly fired the first shots near the Ta Moan complex. The fighting quickly spread to other points along the border.

Five days later, following a high-level meeting in Malaysia, the leaders of both nations agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, effective from midnight on July 28, 2025. The meeting was convened and mediated by Malaysian Prime Minister and ASEAN Chair Anwar Ibrahim, alongside U.S. President Donald Trump, with strong support from China.

It was also confirmed that the United States will participate in monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire between the two countries to ensure lasting peace.
