(Phnom Penh): Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, reaffirmed Cambodia’s full readiness to work with the Lao People’s Army in investigating the recent projectile incident on Lao territory. She denounced Thailand’s baseless and malicious disinformation campaign aimed at misleading international opinion.
Maly Socheata spoke on Monday (Jul. 28) during a press conference.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday (July 28), Maly Socheata strongly rejected Thailand’s claims that Cambodia fired PHL-03 rockets into Thai territory, calling the allegations a fabricated pretext for Thailand’s own use of increasingly brutal and inhumane weapons in its invasion of Cambodia.
She underscored that these accusations were made without a shred of evidence, and are merely a strategic excuse to escalate their violent and unlawful military campaign with the goal of seizing Cambodian land.
Cambodia categorically rejected claims that Cambodia intentionally fired rockets into Laos, describing them as lies and manipulation meant to shift blame and distract the world from Thailand’s violations.
Maly Socheata further accused Thailand of using deceptive tactics to tarnish Cambodia’s reputation on the global stage. In contrast, she underscored Cambodia’s commitment to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, including Laos.
“Cambodia maintains a principled stance in respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, and stands ready to fully cooperate with the Lao People’s Army to investigate the projectile incident in Lao territory,” she said, adding that Thailand must immediately end its disinformation campaign, which conceals its breaches of international law and unfairly damages Cambodia’s image.
