Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 5 - Secretary General of the National Assembly will announce 16 new members for the National Assembly and three new members for the National Election Committee (NEC) on December 16, 2017.
In the National Assembly, 15 members are from Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and one member is from FUNCINPEC party.
From the 16 positions, 11 positions were from the opposition party that was recently dissolved, four positions from CPP which they resigned to run for Senate, and one member resigned from FUNCINPEC party to run for Vice President of the NEC.
The three candidates running in the NEC are Nuth Sokhom from FUNCINPEC party, Hal Sarath from Cambodian Nationality Party, and Dem Sovanrom from the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).
