Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 2 - After discussing with Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Netherlands, Ke Da, deputy secretary-general of chemical authority of ministry of national defense, said on Friday that the OPCW technical team will arrive in December, while the bomb removal operations will launch on the late 2nd week of December.

He added that experts of the chemical weapons authority have been now arranging accommodation for operational forces and interviewing witnesses who have buried chemical bombs in the area of Koki commune and nearby communes in Romeas Hek district, Svay Rieng province.

The sending of OPCW technical team to Cambodia came after the Royal Government of Cambodia submitted a formal letter requesting the organization to send technical team to clean chemical bombs found in Svay Rieng province in accordance with the UN Convention on Chemical Weapons.

Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) claimed that they found 22 new locations in Koki Commune, Romeas Hek District, Svay Rieng Province with U.S. chemical bombs.

CMAC reported that more than 100 people have been treated to cure skin infections.
