Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 18 - Authorities from Mean Chey District have delivered a writ of order from the Supreme Court of Cambodia, a resolution from Ministry of Interior and a resolution from the Phnom Penh municipal office to the main headquarters of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) to ban all political activities after the dissolution.

“When we arrived there, our authorities informed the workers in the headquarter to remove banners. If they did not do it, we would do by ourselves but they did it. We entered the building to check and there was no more banners or tags relating to the political party,” said Dy Rathkemarun, Mean Chey Deputy District Governor.

At the same time, Prime Minister Hun Sen had urged the authorities to concentrate on maintaining peace and security in Cambodia.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Cambodia ruled for the dissolution of CNRP due to the political party’s conspiracy with foreign power to topple the Cambodian government.

118 leaders and politicians from the CNRP were also banned from political activities for five years including party president Kem Sokha and exiled former leader Sam Rainsy.
