YANGON, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi on Wednesday met with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, according to official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Thursday.

They exchanged views on Myanmar government's efforts in restoring peace and stability as well as promoting economic development in northern Rakhine state, the report said.

The Myanmar government is stepping up efforts in providing humanitarian assistance to the local people in conflict-affected areas in northern Rakhine and repatriation of the refugees after scrutiny for citizenship.
