Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 16 - Phnom Penh Municipal Police chief Chuon Sovann told reporters in front of the Supreme Court that the deployment of security forces and the placement of barricades in the streets around the Supreme Court were made to preserve security and order on the trail of dissolution of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP).
The police also confirmed that the deployment of these forces were not meant to intimidate the people, but to keep peace and security.
It is noted that around the perimeter of the Supreme Court, security forces and authorities have placed barricades on the street in Doun Penh district to stop any interruption to the hearing at the Supreme Court.
However, local and foreign journalists were allowed in but camera and sound recording equipment were prohibited while note taking is allowed.
"We safeguard the security and safety of the Supreme Court who makes the dissolution public," said Chuon Sovann.
