(Phnom Penh): Cambodian-developed social network CoolApp has surged to nearly 500,000 users, following a public endorsement from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP). His call to use CoolApp as a secure, local alternative to foreign messaging platforms has sparked widespread support, especially among party leaders and officials.

Speaking at the CPP Central Committee meeting on 26 January 2025, Samdech Techo highlighted the app’s reliability and performance: "CoolApp is easy to use. I recently sent over 100 photos and videos to 42 people—everything ran smoothly. Now it supports forwarding to 50 people. The call quality is clearer and uses less data compared to other apps."

He urged officials to adopt CoolApp for internal communication, noting its efficiency and cost-saving benefits, particularly during video calls.

CoolApp Founder and CEO Lim Chea Vutha revealed that the platform has achieved nearly 500,000 downloads in just 11 months across the App Store, Play Store, and desktop. He emphasized the platform’s strong privacy protections: "CoolApp does not track, collect, or store user data. We use end-to-end encryption to ensure maximum security."

Designed to international standards, CoolApp offers chat, voice, and video call functions, all secured via Cambodia’s Local Internet (DIX) infrastructure. This ensures fast media transfers and crystal-clear calls without routing through foreign servers.
