Phnom Penh (FN), November 8 - Justice Ministry's spokesman Kim Santepheap said on Wednesday night that Sam Rainsy's fraud in the CNRP's statements constitutes a criminal offense for himself and leads the CNRP to face more legal actions related to new political party law.
His remarks was made after Sam Rainsy, the former leader of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), falsified himself to sign as one of the lawmakers of the party on Wednesday in order to have a voice of the opposition.
"According to the statement of the CNRP, it is proven that Sam Rainsy’s fraud is the act of criminal offense in accordance with the penal code of Cambodia and it has led the CNRP to face more laws because it shows the involvement between the party and the convict”, stated the spokesman.
Sam Rainsy resigned as President of CNRP on February 11, 2017. His resignation came after the amendment to the law on political parties that did not allow convicts or offenders to involve in politics.
