Phnom Penh (FN), November 8 - Cambodian People’s Party’s (CPP) spokesman Sok Eysan has criticized the Cambodia National Rescue Party's (CNRP) statement signed by Sam Rainsy, who was no longer a leader in the opposition party.
The statement with the name and the signature was posted on the official Facebook page of Sam Rainsy on Wednesday afternoon.
The statement is considered as contradictory to the law of the political party, which does not allow any political party to be involved with convict.
Sam Rainsy resigned as President of CNRP on February 11, 2017. His resignation came after the amendment to the law on political parties that did not allow convicts or offenders to involve in politics.
“Sam Rainsy is more blasphemy than most people because he has lost his privilege as a head of the opposition party, but he was not embarrassed to sign the official document that is worthless and ineffective, “said Sok Eysan.
The newly amended law on political parties, banned all parties to use the voice or statements of prisoners for political purposes.
