Phnom Penh (FN), November 7 - Chhay Than, Planning Minister, said the census will be moved to 2019 because Cambodia was busy preparing for the 6th National Election in 2018.
His remark was made after the first meeting of the National Council for General Population Census of Cambodia 2019, presided over by Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and other relevant officials, at the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday.
Chhay Than added that the census in 2019 will cost more than $8 million, an increase of $2 million compared to the census in 1998 and 2008. The spending is increased because of the rise in population and the use of census officials.
This third census will be held in March 2019, with the employment of 47,000 officials and will take 13 days.
