Phnom Penh (FN), October 30 – European Union delegates have promised to strengthen relations with Cambodia despite seeing current political situation in Cambodia, including the arrest of Kem Sokha, president of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP).
Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with the EU delegates on Monday led by Werner Langen, Chairman of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Commission, explaining the latest political situation in Cambodia and the arrest of Kem Sokha.
Prak Sokhonn expressed his gratitude to the European Union for granting about 410 million Euros ($477 million) for the development of Cambodia from 2014-2020.
The Minister said these grants have contributed significantly to Cambodia's economic and social development, poverty reduction and the promotion of human rights, democracy as well as the rule of law in Cambodia.
