KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and 33 others injured in a bus collision along the expressway in the Malaysian northern state of Penang on Tuesday morning, local newspaper New Straits Times (NST) reported.
The accident took place at around 5:30 a.m. local time. A bus ferrying Indonesian and Nepalese workers, had stopped on the left side of the road after an engine problem, while another bus failed to brake in time and rammed into it, NST quoted a police officer as saying.
It was reported that the the two buses were carrying factory workers from Sony and Plexus, which both have manufacturing business in the Penang state.
The victims, among which 23 sustained serious injuries, have been sent to hospitals.
