LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- A sketch of the Empire State building in New York drawn by President Donald Trump was sold by a Los Angeles auction house Thursday night for 16,000 U.S. dollars.
The 12-inch-by-9-inch (30-cm-by-23-cm) black marker depiction of the famous skyscraper was listed by the Julien's Auction as a highlight artwork in Street, Contemporary & Celebrity Art auction in the company's Beverly Hills showroom and online.
The drawing was estimated at 8,000 to 12,000 U.S. dollars, but the result ran higher. Julien's Auction finally announced the 16,000-dollar record on its official tweeter page.
Los Angeles Times reported earlier that the picture signed by Trump was created by the president for a charity auction in Florida during the time he opened his Mar-a-Lago estate as a private club in 1995.
It is not the first time that Trump's drawing was sold out in an auction house. In July, a drawing of the Manhattan skyline by him in 2005 cost a collector 29,184 U.S. dollars in Los Angeles-based auction house Nate D. Sanders.
