Phnom Penh (FN), October 11 – In response to criticism and calls for repatriation, CNRP’s Vice President, Eng Chhay Eang, said that hiding in Cambodia would not be able to do anything. He and other lawmakers are better off in abroad.

'The current political situation in the country is very risky, so if we are in the country, we cannot do anything but stay quiet. Rather, we decided to take advantage of our freedom to work abroad and help the internal”, stated Eng Chhay Eang through an interview with Radio Free Asia on Tuesday night.

The remark was made after CNRP lawmaker Mao Monivann called for all CNRP lawmakers to repatriate to Cambodia to deal with the CNRP's ongoing problems.

Out of all the 55 CNRP lawmakers, only 24 still remains in Cambodia, CNRP's lawmaker Son Chhay confirmed after the CNRP meeting on Tuesday morning.

Son Chhay added that only three of the CNRP lawmakers confirmed to repatriate in the next 3 to 4 days, as the National Assembly session will resume this week.
