Phnom Penh (FN), October 9 - Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced the new government's policy to fund female civil servants, police officers and soldiers $200 for a child born, $396 for a twin and $594 for a triplet.
The policy will be effective from January 1, 2018.
The remark was made on Monday morning when the premier presided over the graduation ceremony for nearly 6,000 university students in Phnom Penh.
"I would like to take this opportunity to announce that from 2018, women who are civil servants, police officers and army will receive an incentive for childbirth from the Royal Government,” he said.
He highlighted that women in the civil service, police and army are about 900,000, while only about 10,844 women have the ability to deliver babies.
The Royal Government has allocated budget about $10 million per year for funding birth incentives for the garment workers and additional of $2 million for female civil servants, police officers and army.
