BISHKEK, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Prime Minister Temir Zhumakadyrov was killed Saturday when his car collided with a truck on the highway, the Kyrgyz state press service reported.

The accident happened at a section of the Bishkek-Kara-Balta Highway in Sadovoye village in the northernmost region at around 7:30 a.m. local time (0130 GMT), the report said.

Zhumakadyrov and his assistant were traveling in a Toyota Land Cruiser. The driver of the car and the assistant also died in the accident.

The truck driver was hospitalized.

Zhumakadyrov, 38, was appointed deputy prime minister in August 2017. Prior to that he was secretary of the National Security Council.
