Phnom Penh (FN), October 7 - United States and European Union will continue availing more markets to Cambodia and increase their purchases from Cambodia, according to Labor Ministry's spokesman, Heng Sour.
The remark was made on Friday afternoon during a meeting between William A. Heidt, U.S Ambassador to Cambodia, George Edgar, Ambassador of the European Union to Cambodia, and Ith Sam Heng, Minister of Labor.
Heng Sour said that in the meeting, the two ambassadors hailed Cambodia's achievement to increase 2018 minimum wage to $170. U.S and E.U also encouraged Cambodia to continue to adopt a trilateral mechanism, social dialogue, respect for working conditions, respect for freedom of association, professional freedom and transparent labor.
In response, minister of labor also thanked the two countries for improving working conditions in Cambodia and ensuring that Cambodia will continue to maintain a policy of binding to working conditions; continuing to cooperate with ILO-BFC, GIZ and other international organizations that are legally registered.
