Phnom Penh (FN), October 5 – The Labor Council Commission agreed to increase garment worker’s wage from $153 to $165 by 2018.
The agreement was made on Thursday evening in a meeting led by Ith Samheng, minister of Labor and Vocational Training, with the participation of the representatives of the government, factory owners, and employers.
Prime Minister Hun Sen has decided to add $5 more, which amounted to $170 by 2018, an increase of $ 17 overall compared to 2017.
He also has introduced a policy of increasing wages for garment workers every year.
In 2017, the minimum wage for workers was $153 minimum, excluding other benefits.
