Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 20 – The National Assembly unanimously elected Prak Sokhonn as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, with all 112 votes in favour. Sok Chenda Sophea will now serve as Deputy Prime Minister.

Prak Sokhonn, 70, previously held the role of Foreign Minister from 2016 to 2023 under Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s administration. Following the formation of the seventh-mandate Royal Government, he became First Vice President of the Senate. Earlier in his career, he served as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications from 2013 to 2016.

Sok Chenda Sophea served as Foreign Minister in the seventh-mandate Royal Government for approximately 14 months before this transition.
