CHICAGO, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Boeing announced on its website on Thursday that Turkish Airlines intended to purchase 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The two sides have signed a letter of intent on the deal on the same day. It is estimated that the deal will be worth 11 billion U.S. dollars when finalized.
"The 787 Dreamliner is the most technologically advanced airplane in the world," a Boeing press release said. "Our intent to purchase these Dreamliners is to meet the demand for wide-body airplanes, further strengthen our fleet capacity and to enhance passenger satisfaction."
Boeing and the Turkish Government also announced a Boeing Turkey National Aerospace Initiative, designed to support the growth of the Turkish aerospace industry, in conjunction with the targets set by Turkey's Vision 2023, a list of goals released by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
