Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 9 – Cambodia celebrated its 71st Independence Day on Saturday (Nov. 9), honoring its liberation from nearly a century of French colonial rule.
The ceremony, held at Phnom Penh’s Independence Monument, featured King Norodom Sihamoni lighting the victory flame, symbolizing national resilience and pride.
Military officers, monks, students, government officials, foreign diplomats, and Cambodian citizens gathered to mark the occasion and reflect on Cambodia’s independence, first achieved on 9 November 1953.
The celebrations served as a powerful reminder of Cambodia’s progress and its dedication to building a peaceful and prosperous future.
