Phnom Penh (FN), September 14 - CPP spokesman Sok Eysan requested U.S Ambassador William A. Heidt to clarify whether U.S had planned and ordered Kem Sokha to topple the government like in Yugoslavia and Serbia.
"US ambassador should clarify whether the U.S has planned and ordered Kem Sokha as Sokha said in a video or not. You [ambassador] should not remain silent,” stated Sok Eysan.
"After PM Hun Sen reacted to the interference, the US ambassador expressed his pain. Thanks for his expression, and he hoped the diplomat would understand the suffering of small nations caused by superpowers. There has been a rumor in 2016 that Russia interfered with US elections, which have angered the US as well,” he added.
Ambassador Heidt issued a statement on Monday to reject accusations of the U.S involvement with Kem Sokha, who was charged with treason.
The ambassador said that the Cambodian government had accused the US without evidence and that the American people were severely insulted.
