Svay Rieng (FN), September 7 – Cambodia’s first solar power plant, worth of $12.5 million, was on trial.
The 10-megawatt solar power station is invested by Sunseap Asset with a 20-year contract.
Keo Ratanak, director-general of Electricite du Cambodge (EDC), visited the first solar power in Svay Rieng province on Wednesday.
He said that this is Cambodia's commitment toward clean energy production in the near future, combined with other sources such as hydropower.
The first solar power serve not only the energy sector in Svay Rieng province but also the national grid.
Keo continued that the second phase of this solar farm, capable of producing 30 megawatts, will be developed near Phnom Penh in 2018.
