Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 16 – Cambodia exported a total of 379,546 tonnes of milled rice in the first seven months of 2024, generating more than USD 280 million in revenue, according to a report seen by Fresh News on 12 August 2024.

According to the Cambodian Rice Federation, these exports were carried out by 53 rice exporters.

During the first seven months, exports to 26 European countries totalled 186,377 tons, valued at USD 144.92 million. Meanwhile, China, including Hong Kong and Macau, received 77,204 tons worth USD 48.28 million. ASEAN countries, including East Timor, imported 77,933 tons valued at USD 53.58 million, while 28 other countries—Africa, the Middle East, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.—imported 38,032 tons worth USD 33.19 million.

Of the rice exported, fragrant rice accounted for 70.52 per cent, white rice 24.30 per cent, parboiled rice 3.16 per cent, organic rice 1.74 per cent, and other varieties 0.28 per cent.

Notably, total rice exports in the first seven months reached 2,711,179 tons, generating over USD 784.60 million, with 80.50 per cent of these exports certified by the competent authority.
