BANGKOK, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) — Cambodian consul general in Aranyaprathet district in eastern Thailand made an inquiry with Thai police Thursday following a common border market brawl, the police said.
Bun Sokvibol met with Pol Col Seksan Watanapong, a Thai police superintendent, to inquire about Wednesday's fight.
The fight occurred between Cambodian vendors and Thai Department of Special Investigation personnel and Thai policemen who were carrying out a crackdown on alleged contraband items put on sale at Rong Klua border market.
The Cambodian consul general was quoted as saying he was compiling accounts about the fight and will shortly submit a report about it to Cambodian authorities in Phnom Penh.
Two Cambodian men, identified as Somon Kong, 23, and Saiha Yim, 24, were put in jail on charges of attacking the Thai officials and vandalizing government property, including a van of a DSI unit at the market.
