PHNOM PENH (FN), Feb. 4 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Thursday that he will donate his blood if his doctors permit and called on people particularly youth to do blood donation.
He said blood transfusion will not harm donors' health; instead, their blood will save other people's lives.
«For me, I will avail myself of work time to donate blood one day if doctors who treat me permit,» the premier wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the Ministry of Health, only four in 1,000 Cambodians donate their blood, far less than the number recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
As a developing country, Cambodia should have 10 blood donors out of 1,000 people, the WHO said.
