BANGKOK, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay an official visit to Thailand next week to strengthen relationship and cooperation between the two countries, the Thai foreign ministry said on Friday.
Lavrov will arrive in Thailand on Aug. 9, and on Aug. 10, he is scheduled to pay respect to revered late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej and meet with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Busadee Santipitak.
The visit, which also coincides with the commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Russia, will significantly contribute to the strengthening of the bilateral relationship and cooperation, especially following the official visit of Prayut's visit to Russia in May 2016, she said.
The Russian foreign minister visited Thailand in 2009 and this will be his second visit to Thailand, Busadee added.
