Phnom Penh (FN), August 2 – The Appeal Court will hear the defamation case against Thak Lany, a former senator from the CNRP. Lany is charged for accusing the Prime Minister of committing the murder of Kem Ley, a public defamation and incitement causing serious chaos for social security.
Ky Tech, a lawyer for PM Hun Sen, filed a lawsuit against Lany, requesting that the court comply with the law and claim compensation of 100 Riels.
The Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced Thak Lany to a year in prison and a fine of USD 2,000, including compensation of 100 Riels for PM Hun Sen.
According to the Deputy Secretary-General, Touch Tharith, the hearing was led by Plang Samnang, Deputy Director of Appeals Court, at 8 am on August 10.
Current reports indicate that Thak Lany is currently not in Cambodia.
