Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called for comprehensive construction safety standards, including water, electricity, gas and fire safety, speaking on Monday morning (Jun. 17) during the groundbreaking for the Twin Flyovers at the Intersection of Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard and National Road No.2.
"Regarding construction and safety system, I asked Keo Rattanak to review and prepare [...] I recommend establishing law management on the gas system within residential buildings. In the future, as we see more high-rise buildings, it is crucial to have robust safety systems in place," the premier underscored.
Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei advised collaboration with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction to set standards for electricity, water, and gas systems, to be incorporated into the laws management on fire safety and building structures.
On this occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that citizens deserve to live in peace, stability, security, and safety, with living conditions that match those in high-rise buildings. Samdech reiterated that building safety standards must be rigorous and should avoid the use of sea sand in construction.
