Phnom Penh (FN), July 25 - Denis Cokovic, also known as Denis Deny, 54, was detained Friday for amidst allegations of fraud and conspiracy to commit illegal activities as far back as 2016.

The victim, a wife of a senior government official, filed a lawsuit against Cokovic after she invested $20M in resort projects he claimed to be building in Kep and Kampot.

The plaintiff became suspicious of the scheme after the project failed to materialize and Cokovic requested an additional $4M in funds.

Upon his arrest, Mr. Cokovic was found to be in possession of $420,000.

He has undergone questioning and is awaiting further proceedings.
