Phnom Penh (FN), July 24 - Officials from the Ministry of Information and journalists from 8 well-known Cambodia media outlets will engage in a 12-day visit to Guangxi and Shandong at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy.

The visit will take place from July 24 to August 3.

Ouk Kimseng, the Deputy Secretary of the state news agency AKP, will lead a delegation from national television and radio, Fresh News, CNC, BTV, Apsara and Rasmei Kampuchea Daily.

Officials from the Chinese embassy said the annual visit is important for longstanding Cambodia-China ties.

During the visit, journalists will be able to showcase the development of the industry in Guangxi and Shandong, as well as potential investment opportunities in Cambodia to investors in Guangxi.

Chinese officials hope the visit will share the culture of Chinese people in Guangxi and Shandong and promote relations between Cambodia and China.

Guangxi is an autonomous region in southern China and shares a border with Vietnam.

The province is more than 2,000 kilometers from Beijing, covering an area of nearly 24,000 square kilometers and is home to a population of more than 46 million.

Journalists and officials will visit major auto manufacturing plants and key economic zones within Guangxi.

A trip to see China's irrigation and hydroelectricity facilities is also on the agenda.

Ouk Kimseng said that the 8 delegations will have the opportunity to compile information from potential sites in Guangxi and Shandong and will have the ability to share what they have learned and experienced with Cambodians back at home.

Van Saray, chief editor of Fresh News news agency, said that visiting China's Guangxi province will be a great opportunity for him because it is a prosperous industrialized province and people earn an annual income of over $2,000.

Therefore, he will make every effort to compile information to illustrate the culture, civilization, customs, as well as the potential of investment and industrial progress in Guangxi.
