Phnom Penh (FN), July 21 – Light train capable of transporting commuters and foreign visitors from central Phnom Penh to Phnom Penh International Airport will be available in April 2018, according to Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport.
The purpose is to facilitate and avoid road congestion.
He also appealed to citizens living near the railroad track not to worry about the launching of a light train.
The minister added that the new railway connects the old one about a kilometer away to the airport.
The announcement was made on Friday during the handover ceremony of mechanical equipment from China’s Henan Transport Investment Group Co., Ltd, presided over by Li An, a representative from Embassy of China and Senior Minister Sun Chanthol.
