Phnom Penh (FN), May 18 – On 16 May 2024, a friendly reception was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Cambodia.
When giving his welcoming speech, Russian Ambassador to Cambodia Anatoly Borovik spoke about the results of Russian-Cambodian interactions over the past year, emphasizing the pursuit of further advancement of the multifaceted dialogue.
Secretary of State of Cambodia Foreign Ministry Meas Kim Heng, who attended the reception, responded with reciprocal cordial remarks.
On the occasion, Secretary of State Meas Kim Heng extended his sincere congratulations and best wishes for peace, happiness and prosperity to the Government and the people of the Russian Federation. He further pointed out the importance of friendship and cooperation between the two countries that have been built for almost seven decades.
The secretary of state emphasised that the existing mechanisms such as the Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and the Bilateral Consultations are ideal platforms for both countries to reinvigorate the momentum of bilateral cooperation and partnership to a new height.
The event was also attended by Chem Widhya, Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Media and Information of the Senate of Cambodia, honourable representatives of the Foreign Ministry, academic circles, the Association of former Cambodian students from Russia and the Soviet Union, national media, as well as the diplomats of the mission.
