Phnom Penh (FN), May. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the inauguration of Toyota assembly plant today will bring numerous benefits for Cambodia as it will not only enhance the kingdom's potential and prestige but also serve as a source of pride.

The premier spoke on Thursday (May 2) during an inauguration of Toyota assembly plant in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone.

Premier Hun Manet underscored, "The inauguration of Toyota assembly plant now brings numerous benefits to the national economy and the people of Cambodia. Most importantly, it enhances Cambodia's capabilities and prestige, which is a source of pride for our nation and our Cambodian people."

Samdech Thipadei underlined that establishing a factory in the country without paying import duties would make products more accessible to the people at a reasonable price. Even without import taxes, the company is still obligated to pay local taxes.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that Cambodia is not only home to manufacturers catering to domestic consumption but also exporters of various goods and products. This reflects Cambodia's ambition to transform from being solely an importer to a producer, thereby expanding its supply and offering a wider range of goods than ever before.

At the same time, the prime minister expressed his delight in seeing many products made in Cambodia, as this demonstrates Cambodia's expanding capacity for self-sufficiency and ownership.

Improving people's livelihoods not only involves raising their salaries but also ensuring that the cost of goods remains manageable, allowing individuals to allocate more money for other purposes. Therefore, maintaining Cambodia's inflation rate is crucial, the premier added.
