Banteay Meanchey (FN), July 5 – Poipet’s Human Trafficking Officer reported that 4,000 workers have been deported from Thailand and returned to Cambodia via Poipet International Gate over the past 11 days.
“I decided to come back due to Thai’s strict labor law. I will continue my work in Thailand once I have legal documentations,” said one of the workers.
The workers complained about the financial burden and untimely service the authorities charged and provided.
They have called for Prime Minister Hun Sen to help resolve this issues.
“On behalf of the authorities, we will take care of the Cambodian workers; we brought food and water for them.
We have also prepared temporary accommodations and ground transportation for them,” said Poipet Governor, Ngor Meng Chroun.
The governor warned taxis and buses not to increase their fares.
If they do, they will face legal actions.
