Phnom Penh (FN), July 3 - Japanese Government has provided a total of nearly US$6 million to the Royal Government of Cambodia to provide scholarships for students to study in Japan, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs's press release.

The signing ceremony between Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Horinouchi Hidehisa, Japanese Ambassador of Cambodia will be held Tuesday morning.

The grant aid will be used for the implementation of two projects:

1. $2.5 million towards Human Resource Development Scholarship Project (3 years rolling) for the 2017 academic year.

2.  $3.27 million for the implementation of the Human Resource Development Scholarship Project for the 2018 academic year.

According to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hundreds of Cambodian students have pursued graduate and post-graduate education in international relations, economics, development, law development, judiciary, and other fields since the year 2000.

By 2016, 275 Cambodian students had  graduated from the scholarship program and have found employment with the government or in Cambodia's private sector.
