Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 22 – President of the National Assembly of Thailand Wan Muhamad Noor Matha announced that he will take care of Cambodian workers working in Thailand just like Thai citizens. Specifically, he expressed his intention to provide opportunities for the families and children of Cambodian workers to receive education and learn the Thai language.
Wan Muhamad Noor Matha made this statement during his courtesy call on Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Friday (Mar. 22) at the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) headquarters.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo warmly welcomed the Thai National Assembly president and the delegation to visit Cambodia. Samdech Techo strongly believed that this visit will further contribute to strengthening and expanding friendly relations between the countries and peoples, especially the legislatures of both nations.
Wan Muhamad Noor Matha expressed deep gratitude to Samdech Techo for allowing the high-level delegation of the Thai National Assembly to pay a courtesy call and informed Samdech Techo that he had met him 30 years ago when Samdech Techo was a young and potential Cambodian politician. This time, he met Samdech Techo again when Samdech is a successful politician and leader.
Wan Muhamad Noor Matha underlined that Cambodia and Thailand are countries with shared borders, so there should be love and unity for the benefit of both countries' people.
The president of the Thai National Assembly congratulated Samdech Techo on his role as Chairman of the Supreme Privy Council of the King and also congratulated him on his upcoming appointment as President of the Senate.
In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised the progress in all areas of Cambodia-Thailand relations and thanked the Thai government for caring for Cambodian workers in Thailand. Samdech Techo urged both countries to further enhance economic, trade, employment, tourism, and other forms of cooperation.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his desire to see Cambodia and Thailand enhance their relationship from a strategic partnership to a comprehensive strategic partnership in the future. Regarding regional cooperation, Samdech Techo stated that Cambodia and Thailand need to further promote the interests of both countries within the frameworks of ASEAN, ACMEC, and the Greater Mekong Subregion.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Wan Muhamad Noor Matha for congratulating him and wished the delegation a successful visit in Cambodia.
