Phnom Penh (FN), June 27 – The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and development partners met for the first time to adopt mechanisms to climate change adaptation, which is a major concern for the world today.
Today's conference focused on drafting an agenda for the meeting between Climate Change Technical Working Group and Development Partners; climate change and planning framework, institutions, and links to international processes such as strategic planning and action plans in response to UNFCCC’s implementations and the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
It also focused on understanding the framework and rules for developing, examining, and approving carbon finance and linking Cambodia to the Green Climate Fund.
The meeting was organized by the Climate Change Department of the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) with the support of the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA), under the leadership of Tin Ponlok, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of NCSD.
"Climate change is an across-the-board issue and it's useless to set up climate change programs that are managed separately," said Tin.
"The only way to address climate change is to integrate it into daily life, work, and activities," Tin added.
