Phnom Penh (FN), June 26 – General Ke Kim Yan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, reported that over the past five months 106 kilograms of drugs have been confiscated and more than 8,000 people have been arrested due to drug-related offenses.
The General also noted that 3 million people have participated in drug education over the past 5 months.
“The anti-drug campaign has shown encouraging numbers: educated 3,278,997; cracked down 3,653 cases of drug crime; arrested 8,196 suspects; seized 106,269 kilograms of drugs; 13,578 kilos of dried marijuana, and 140,400 marijuana plants,” stated Anti-Drug Chairman during an International Anti-Drug Day on Monday morning.
Approximately 3,000 people have been sent to rehabilitation centers, correctional centers, referral hospitals, and health centers for treatment, according to Ke Kim Yan.
