Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – So Naro, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, said that the next generation of the opposition party should break away from the extremist political practices of their predecessors.

So Naro spoke during a press conference on Thursday (Mar. 7) after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet concluded his visit to Australia.

While Samdech Thipadei's presence was warmly received by Cambodians living in Australia, a small group of extremist opposition factions persisted in their old political tactics through demonstrations. So Naro stated that the retirement of Hong Lim, a vocal politician, marked a departure from policies associated with revenge and dark political practices. He criticized the extremity of old-fashioned politics, that it should retire with him.

Minister Delegate So Naro underscored, "The younger generation should change the way of doing politics to be more dignified, eliminate extremism, and revenge.”

So Naro also suggested that the participation of Cambodians in Australia was an expression of satisfaction with the Royal Government. He described the event as historic, with more than 1,000 Cambodians rallying to show their support for the government during the meeting in Melbourne on 3 March 2024.
